The following general criteria apply to all RecordSetter record attempts involving video games:

- game must be played on the same gaming platform (i.e. iPhone, XBox, Wii, computer, etc.) unless otherwise specified
- visual evidence must be provided; video evidence is greatly encouraged (and more fun to watch). If you're breaking a record where the previous attempt has included video evidence, you'll need to provide that type of evidence, too.
- cheats and hacks are not permitted unless specified in the record title or criteria
