V1 of a read-only API is ready to go. 

http://urdb.org/api/json/records will return JSON for all current records, sorted by newest first and includes:

• Record Description (e.g. Most Bananas Fit Inside A Pair Of Pants While Wearing Them)
• Primary Image Url
• Thumbnail Image Url
• Value (of record, e.g. 30)
• UnitOfMeasure (e.g. bananas)
• Tags
• Pre-shortened link (e.g. http://r.urdb.org/5S)

Attn webby types. URDB has started putting together specifications for our long-planned public API.

We have ideas of our own for potential uses – game high score submissions, enabling record holder widgets, etc. but at this point in the process, we’d like to reach out and see if there are any features you guys might need that we haven’t thought of already.
